line up with Hi, what does line up with mean here? It’s from NPR: Trump Fires John Bolton in Final Break After Months of Internal Policy Division What is “Final break”? and another question: As for Bolton, his “priorities and policies just don’t line up with the president”, Gridley said. Here, does “line up with” mean support? Collins dictionary says If you line up with, behind, or alongside a person or group, you support them. If you line up against a person or group, you oppose them. Can I consider it as this meaning?

'Line up with' is very similar to 'align with'. Here, it means that they are similar, or that they have similar aims. It isn't quite correct though: if it was strictly correct, it should be 'with those of the President', or 'with the plans of the president' or something similar.
