Which sentence sound better: 1)you are not (a) friend of mine 2)you are no friend of mine. Which is the preferred construction?

These have somewhat different meanings in my mind. The first is factual. The second is used more when someone has betrayed you.

They are almost both correct - in the first one "a" is not an option - it must be there
