Does this sound natural? 1. Giving money to homeless children won't help them survive off the street, rather, it does the exact opposite-leading them to being homeless for even longer. 2. Giving money to homeless children won't help them off street, but rather the opposite and keeps them on the street even longer.

The first one is good, the second one is a little broken but still understandable.

In response to Gary’s baseless accusation I’d just like to say that I’ve never been polite to anybody in my entire life, although he does make a good point about the grammar in the second sentence.

Samuel is perhaps being over polite. 'help them off street' is incorrect.
