What is "talks about talks" It took two painful years of back and forth diplomacy and increasingly impatient signals from the Pope to arrange even talks about talks. (about conflict between king and archbishop) 1. Did the Pope arrange a talk? Here I read it as, the Pope is impatient so he doesn't want to arrange a talk, but is here telling, he arranged or not, the talk? 2. What is "talks about talks", is that a meeting about talk, but we always talk on ordinary meeting, why not just say "to arrange even talks"?

To arrange a talk with someone, you have to talk to them first. The talks to be arranged are serious ones. Popes and kings are not common people. they don't sit and chat randomly, do they?
