is this correct? "in a civilized society, unpremeditated convicts are split from criminals who have planned for their crimes"

I guess technically one could say that this is correct. But, it does not sound right at all. If someone actually said this, even here in America we would probably have a hard time understanding what they meant. This would work better: In a civilized society, convics are seperated into 2 groups. Those that commited premeditated crimes, and those that did not. I hope this helps, Jerry (Teacher)
