Grammar question Hi, there Would you use “But that” or “but they” in this sentence “Here are some examples of words that sound like speech but THEY/ THAT are really gibberish nonsense with no meaning”. Thank you

If I were to use one of those, I would use "that." However, I really wouldn't use either one of those. I would say "...that sound like speech but are really gibberish nonsense..."

It is about “words” in plural so you should use “they are”
