How do I say this? I have a question. What word should I use if I want to say that I am waiting for an answer from an entity. Let's say there is an organization which submitted a proposal to execute a project. This information goes in a formal format, like so: Project name: Submitted to: Status:  In the status box, could I use 'on hold'? what's the proper word? Thanks in advance.

Something like "Awaiting confirmation" might work.

That's a great question and I agree with Suki. so "awaiting confirmation" or "pending for confirmation" would be great.
