Children's record, "Pedro in Brazil." Are the songs on this record inspired by anything Brazilian? When I was a child, my parents bought me a phonograph record entitled "Pedro in Brazil: Pedro Goes to a Carioca Festival." I was pleased to find it is available on YouTube and I enjoyed listening to it again for the first time in many decades. I am curious to know: is there anything authentic about it--apart from some place names (Bahia and Pernambuco) and a "Latin flavor" in the music? Is there really a "Carioca Festival?" Are the songs (in English) based on real folk tunes? In particular, does the riddle song 4:25 minutes in, at https://youtu.be/HSJi8yrf9I8?t=265 resemble any Brazilian folk song? ("What's the difference between my hat, and a king's heavy crown of gold? The king gets a headache in his hat, while mine keeps out the cold.")

"The riddle song 4:25 minutes" reminds me of a mixture of the South Brazilian song with Forró but I can tell for sure. In addition, the beginning of this song reminds me of Carmen Miranda as well.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pIO0KEW5aA&list=PLWrCOd8e5y8mctYKdrEArLHK1OhGHhSvy&index=2 About the Carioca Festival at 3:14 Pedro says "...when we get there the "carnival" has already begun..." Carnival is not an exclusive Carioca festival but it's quite famous there. Interesting to find out u were introduced to a song speaking about Brazil... I could never have imagined that! :)
