Let's assume I couldn't come over to our child birthday this year And I called a few days before to say sorry and celebrate her birthday. Is the conversation correct? I'm so sorry I can't come over to you this year. We'll have to have something avoidable to do the day. But we'd like to wish you a happy birthday like any other birthday. I love you.

I would say: “ I am so sorry I can’t come over this year. We have something to do that day that is unavoidable. But we’d like to wish you a happy birthday like any other birthday. I love you.”
