Phonetics Hi! Could you please tell me the rules of elision of consonats in rapid speech in phonetics? And what symbol do we have to use to indicate it? I mean the elision of /t/, /d/ and I don't know what others can be eliminated (?) (I don't know if eliminated is the correct word). I already understand the elision of schwa. But I need help on what consonants can be eliminated and when. Thank you in advance! Btw, I am studying RP English at school. And my native langauge is Spanish

Hi Ailen, I could hep you with that. The best book for this is something I studied years ago. American Accent Training. I'd love to be able to help.

Very interesting, Chris. Wikipedia doesn’t have any article linked under “reduced speech” but it does seem to be a broad topic. Here a link with a lot of examples. Hopefully it will be helpful to you, Ailen. https://tfcs.baruch.cuny.edu/reduced-speech/ I see Wikipedia covers the idea under elision.
