Verb pay
Hi, there
I know you can say “pay someone something”, as in “We had to pay them over £100 to sort it out .” Then why can’t I say “The company paid employees two months’ back pay”?
Thank you
Who says it is wrong? The apostrophe is informal (non-standard), but "The company paid employees two months back pay" is completely correct. Google "months back pay" (with quotes).
