Is it possible to say presumed profits? (IELTS Writing Task) Hello, italki community! Again I have a question. Is it possible to say 'presumed profits'? "The bar chart shows the [projected/estimated/anticipated etc] profits in thousands of dollars." I want to make a list of the words that could be used instead of "projected/estimated/anticipated". Could you think of some? Thank you!

No, not really. Presumed would be odd. It would only make sense if the profits were not published or known, but you had some reason to presume that they actually made them. e.g. The gun runners could use their presumed profits to invest in drugs. As Saamn said, you can use forecast (not forecasted...)

You can use "Forecast profits".

Yes, presumed is fine. Other options: calculated, predicted, or forecasted.
