Past Simple vs Past Perfect. What would be the right tense in the following sentence?
a) Yesterday I talked to the guy I interviewed last week
b) Yesterday I talked to the guy I had interviewed last week

Either is fine. Which one I would use would depend on the context. How does this sentence fit in the conversation? How long was the interview?

Past perfect sounds better in this context. The second sentence.

Yesterday I talked to the guy I interviewed last week. I think that the second one is also correct, but more commonly used in novel writing? :)

Yesterday I spoke to the guy I had interviewed last week, although both are common.
