How to distinguish would and will in the following sentences? 1 He said that he would try again. 2 He knew When she would come. 3 He said that he will visit the country next year. Thanks for your help.

#1 would = future in the past #2 would = future in the past #3 will = future in the present More information about changing verbs for reported speech (and similar situations such as #2 "he knew" that require showing past-in-the-past and future-in-the-past). https://www.ef.com/ca/english-resources/english-grammar/tense-changes-when-using-reported-speech/ Note that #3 is an example of something that is still true, so the choice of will or would is optional. Examples: This morning, he said he would come tomorrow. [correct] This morning, he said he will come tomorrow. [correct]
