Which is more common in the UK "must" or "have to"? I think have to is more common in North American variant.

I guess in the UK for laws and rules they use have to. And for personal things must. For example: I must go. You have to respect the law.

I agree with Ken. They have many similarities but also subtle differences based on tone-of-voice, formality, audience..etc

Hi Mehrdad, A couple of examples might help, "Must" and "Have to" are used in the UK but without context its a little difficult to answer
