Although an argument could be made for number 1 (you… don’t) — and you may even see it in older literature, people nowadays usually say number 2 (a genius doesn’t). This is probably due to the fact that “genius” is closer to the verb than “you” is. Note that's '"you" is', not 'you are' ;)
