We have an Orthodox Christmass on January, 7th cause Orthodox church uses Julian calendar. Then we celebrate Old New year on January, 14th. At that day people in Russia say goodbye to the previous year officially.

In Australia, there are 2 public holidays in January. Jan 1st is the New Years Day holiday and Jan 26th is Australia Day. Each state has free events like family oriented activities at parks and beaches. Our city hosts a sailing regatta with seaside markets, stalls and restaurants. There is a huge fireworks display at night. Families usually spend time together having picnics or barbeques outdoors.
