when it comes to humor, a 'private secretary' is always regarded to having an intimate relationship with her boss (familiar with a female employee in mini-skirt sitting over her boss' lap?). so, a 'secretary' and 'private secretary' greet their bosses differently: secretary: "Good Morning Sir!" private secretary: "It's Morning Sir!" :)

I just worked as a secretary, so I can say with certainty what is the difference. The duties of Secretary includes: to answer the telephone, send faxes, write business correspondence and so on in such case. And private secretary.. Private Secretary is the direct assistant to his boss. He is aware of all his plans, and he is working on a more narrow focus.
