I'm going to take a guess here, because the question as stated is a bit strange. We call these characters ('<>') brackets. You could talk about something being "in", "inside" or "between" the brackets (order from most to least probable). ***oops!*** Some text is missing from the header listing. This isn't the question you wanted answered. Oh well, this might also be useful to you someday.
