It just means that he won the election, by having more votes as compared to his cometitors.

A "margin" is the space you see in notebooks from the edge of the page to where you begin to write. A "margin" is also the space between first and second, or second and third, etc. The person reelected problably got around 60% of the vote and the second guy only got aroun 30%. A wide margin!
