yes, I guess.... but personally, the best way to manage people is to treat them as though your children. in spite the fact that different individuals have different culture, belief, or lifestyle, you must establish a "father" image where they can have your trust and respect! moreso, allow them to "fly" on their own as opposed to treating them as a robot. in this way, they will be motivated and feel that they are a very important in an organization. I also suggest you to practice an 'up-down' communication so that you will be able to realize all the problems from your staff and that you will come up to a best and efficient result. :)

As a manager you have to deal with different People from different backgrounds (diversity) whom came to the work with different combination of abilities, interest, aptitudes, values and expectation. You have to modify theirs’ behavior in a way which is comes consistently with the organizational culture (shared values, norms, symbols, stories and myths) and to eliminate or at least minimizing the influences of family and friends and others external parties. How you can motivate your people to do what you request in a way you wish, its not easy at all. Your hard task start by defining the personalities of the employees this demand you to find which is the most valued reward for each employee; you can motivate some employees by money others may be by promotion. How you can control your employees, again you have to look to their personalities and separating between whom have internal locus of control and whom prefer and need external locus of control. Different strategies of reinforcement must be consider, which one you want to choose positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, ignorance or punishment. Do you think its easy to choose I don’t think so. Which organizational culture you want to promote in your organization ( cooperation , aggressive , out come oriented.. etc) and how to build trust and how to encourage self-disclosure, self- esteem, and self-acceptance among your employees. Which communication style you need to adopt. There are a lot of things you have to learn before you start your job as a manager and to become a successful one. so its one of the hardest jobs.
