zone= an area or a region distinguished from adjacent parts by a distinctive feature or characteristic. Example a school zone limits speed to 40km per hour. area= a particular geographical region of indefinite boundary which usually serves some special purpose or distinguished by its people or culture or geography. district= a certain area of a city or town. Example: the business district of a city
