What's the main difference in culture between Germany and Austria?

Beethoven and Mozart were German. Adolf Hitler was Austrian. That's the difference.

No difference. 2 countries, but one nation. germans. so, it's one culture -- german culture.

I lived in Germany for a while many years ago, not long after WWII. My imprerssions from that time were that the young people were the same in both countries, but the older ones in Austria were more amiable than their German counterparts, many of whom were somewhat abrupt, formal, businesslike, an attitude no doubt influenced by the war.
