What's difference between the following phrases: "Take the cup and hold it" and "Catch the cup and take it"

"Take the cup and hold it" = "Take the cup (from the table/from me) and keep it in your hand." "Catch the cup and take it" is a strange sentence. It might mean "Catch the cup (that I'm throwing to you) and take it (away from here)." Otherwise, it makes no sense.

The first one means to pick some cup and like grab it in your hand, but I think the second one is wrong man. Where did you see that?
