'in praise of ' someone or something means doing something to express admiration or commendation or to describe someone's attributes with respect and honor. Some examples : "He delivered a strong speech in praise of the enterprise." " The director spoke in praise of his staff." It could mean also offering words of homage as an act of worship in particular as in : " They sang a hymn in praise of God."
