"i never had you down as..." what does this mean plz? example: I never had you down as a hard worker.

you could also say "I never took you for a hard worker", or "I never saw you as a hard worker" . They all mean, I never believed you to be a hardworker, or literally, I never wrote you down mentally as a hardworker in my book of friends or acquaintances
