Speaking and reading,which is more important in learning a language?

there are four main skills in english, listening, speaking, reading and writing. all of them are equally important . you speak and listen. you read and write, unless you are reading for pleasure.

Neither is more important. If you have a book, read. If you have someone, speak.

There are complimentary! When you read you increase your vocabulary, that will help you to speak more fluently and use more expressions. When you speak you might also learn new expressions (formal as well as informal),that helps you understand written articles and books.
