What does futile mean? Ignoreing the human side of business in all but one lecture on ethics at the end of a course is futile. Does futile mean useless or unsuccessful? Thank you!

Yes, "Futile" means that something is not worth anything, and/or that it is pointless doing it :)

Futile = useless However, I don't think it is used appropriately here. It should be: "Holding lectures on business while ignoring the human side would be futile." or similar.
