Nothing helps you better than listening to music. ;)

It helped me a lot to listening to radio programs, podcasts and watching movies end, at the same time, reading the transcripts and subtitles. Listening to music and reading the lyrics, as suggested Eufrench, was for me a powerful tool. In a step further, I just keep listening as much as I could, not being worried if I understand everything or not. After some time doing that I will realized that my listening became better and better. I hope my experience can help you too. Some examples of websites as BBC, mentioned by Tom Emery, end VOA news are much helpful. Last, but not least, remember that a long journey is made step by step. Not being anxious and having patience will do miracles. We should copy the way children do. They learn the language without hurry up and they learn effectively. Good luck :)!

You can use BBC 6 minute English. It's a webpage with many different topics and podcasts. http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/general/sixminute/

I highly recommend VOA - where you can together with listening to read all article... very very effective, but for me the best way how to understand English is watching and listening satellite tv channels as church channels --- Church preachers have a perfect English. They speak slowly, emphasize some sentences or words, text of preachings sometimes goes on the screen, and mainly they speak positively!!! Perfect!! Try! I recommend to you a preacher Joel Osteen. He is on you tube too. Just put Joel Osteen ministeries. Church channels on hot bird satellite are 252,246,225,228,229,500 and maybe more... but i,m watching on these ones. Wish you good luck!

Try listening to some music and watching movies with English voices and Chinese subtitles.
