is it right to use reprting verb "says/tells/asks" in indirect speech...???

Yes, but you must use them in the past tense (said/told/asked). Example: James told me he was very tired.

Above answers are good. Also remember that "tell" and "say" are used differently. You MUST put an object after "tell" (me, her, Tom, the class, etc.). Examples: He said he was going to the party. He told me he was going to the party.
