Hey everyone! Has anybody tried to learn to pronounce the “rr” sound in Spanish and had trouble doing so? I wanted to ask if anybody had recommendations for ways to learn it.

Hi, it is normal if You have issues with the rr. You can practice with your tongue, the rr is just about the tongue. The sound comes from the tongue not from the throat, it has to sound clean, shouldn't hace an echo Fun fact, some native spanish speakers can't make this sound due to they can't move the tongue quickly towards the roof of the mouth. This problem can be solved with a tongue operation.

hi Alex I`m Juan Carlos from Ecuador ,you just have to place the tip of your tongue on the upper part of the palate just behind the teeth and blow hard, pressing the tongue a little against the palate and practice a lot until the sound resembles that of a motorcycle when it starts Sorry if I have a lot of mistakes, my English is basic

Hi, like what Juan Carlos said, put your tongue up on the palate. I analyzed this for myself and it’s like I’m going to pronounce the letter T or the word “tea” but when you pronounce “tea” you touch the palate then release and follow it with“Ee”. In the case of Spanish rr you don’t release. Instead you anchor the sides of your tongue by your bicuspids and push air through the front of your tongue. While you push the air through you simultaneously use your tongue muscles to push the tip of your tongue back up to the palate. It’s like you flex your tongue muscle except for the tip. The air pushes the tongue back down. This action of the you pushing the tongue up and the tongue tongue being pushed back down, flapping repeatedly, produces the Spanish rr sound. It’s very difficult to explain. But I gave it my best shot. Good luck!

Reading out loud daily helped me a ton. If there's a website in English, there's more than likely a twin in Español. (People Magazine as an example). Can spend hours reading those articles/stories. Daily exercise, you'll be rolling em in no time

That is pretty common, but I would suggest to pratice a lot with your tutor. because the use of R, RR is really dfferent compared to the soap operas. It needs to be natural, my students don't struggle that much with the pronunciation because I correct their pronunciation all the time. Good luck in your journey, Alex! :D
