In Japan, Coming of Age Day is the second Monday of January. Unfortunately, the
ceremony didn't take place in many local prefectures this year because of
covid-19 re-outbreak. The officials got the word out in advance. This is unfortunate, but we have no choice. I think Coming of Age Day is something special
for, not only young people, but also their families. I'm sure their parents and
grandparents wanted to see their children's proud moment. In this day and age,
Being in a crowed is high risk since we might be infected with the virus.
Instead, many families must have celebrated their children at home while taking
photos and having a big dinner. By all means, this celebration style became the
new normal under the circumstances. Then, young people might’ve thought it was
bad, but I'm pretty sure they know it was for the best when they look back at it.
