Writing Exercise 293 – YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU ARE LIVING WITH WHEN MOVING IN TO A
NEW HOUSE WITHOUT CHECKING IT THROUGH Have you ever moved for one reason
or another? Did you check the new place through after moving in? If not, do it
right now! Here is a real case concerning a tenant, Guo in Suzhou, China. He
did not know that he and the previous tenant HAD BEEN LIVING in the same house for two
months until the police came out. This afternoon, I read an online article,
which said that one day in 2017, the landlord, Mr. Wang, reported to the police that
his female tenant, Fang, had been missing for three months and was out of
touch. He thought she was deliberately defaulting on the rent
because she worked for an entertainment venue and her income was unstable. After she had been missing for one month, (two months before he reported it?) Mr. Wang rented the house to a new tenant, Guo. Guo ('he' could be Mr Wang)
did not look over the house after moving in and had been living there for
two months when his life was disturbed when the police came and found the previous
tenant, Fang’s body in a sealed wall cabinet in the house. Guo told the police
that he had smelt the odor but he thought it was coming from the sewer, without
realizing it was from a rotting body. What a horrible experience! PS: Want to
know what was going on? If yes, I will tell you by writing another post tomorrow!
