As announced by Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello a few days ago, Brazil has started vaccinating its people this week. The vaccines that will be given to Brazilian people are the result of a partnership between the Chinese company Sinovach Biotech and the Brazilian institute Butantan (Coronavac) and also between Oxford and the Brazilian Foundation Fiocruz (Oxford-Astrazeneca). The beginning of the vaccination is a Relief to the country which has already lost more than 210.000 people to the virus and that is the second most infected in the world - coming in second only to the USA. The federal government has been reckelessly dealing with the coronavirus situation, which placed us behind the schedule of the rest of world and caused doubts about when the vaccination would effectively begin; because of that, the beginning of the vaccination was even more celebrated. The first people to be vaccinated will be the elderly population, the indigenous population and the health care professionals who work directly with the ill. It will take a little longer, but within a few months the majority of the population will be already vaccinated and then we'll be ready to pose an end to this nightmare.
