I work at a consumer healthcare product manufacturing company, as part of the Regulatory Affairs Department. My role is to ensure our products, such as cosmetics, eye drops, and intraocular lenses for cataract surgery, have obtained the marketing authorisations before we can place them on the market. Due to this wide range of product category, I have been exposed to a variety of regulatory issues and have had the chance to negotiate with different government institutions. This has helped me to enhance my communication and persuasion skills which are essential to a regulatory professional. At the office, my boss allows me to always be creative with solutions to tackle the regulatory hurdles that may occur during or after the registration process has finished. Day by day, all of this has made me become more and more engaged with my job - something that I did not really expect during the first years of my employment.
