Frederick Douglass was a very important and well known figure in U.S. history. Douglas was born in a plantation in Maryland. It is the first book from an African American perspective to describe his personal experience of slavery and the way he fought for freedom in the United States. He is a descendant of slaves. His birth was a mystery. Barely saw his mother and never saw his father. His Parent are somehow similar as strangers to him. This was probably something common back then to the ones who were enslaved. In historical context, one important thing I learned was that the slave owner was trying to keep the slaves illiterate. In his narrative, the slave owner Mr. Auld would try any means he could to stop him from learning reading and writing. Although he will receive much much more crueltreatment every time the slave owner finds out when he's trying to learn, it does not stop him from learning because he realizes that knowledge is something valuable. This is thereason why the slave owner is afraid of it. The more he reads and understands, the more desire for freedom and rebellion.

A really well written piece, showing a really good grasp of English. It is long and complicated and you have done really well. Very interesting and a pleasure to read. The corrections are partly for style and partly grammar. He is still interesting and famous now so you can use the present. I hope this helps.
