Inviting, Accepting and Refusing Without Offending | Spoken Malayalam #118
Descrição
In English a quick "No, thanks, I can't" is perfectly polite. English speakers translate that straight across as ഇല്ല, പറ്റില്ല (illa, pattilla) = no, can't, and it lands like a closed door. Kerala invitations are warm and a little insistent, and a refusal is expected to be soft, with a reason, thanks and a promise for next time.
