Forget the fancy suits and practiced answers.  Job interviews are about why, not what.  Why are you here? Why should we care?  The truth is, the scripted responses you rehearse might not resonate. 今日も北海道からとっています。


さて、今日は祇園祭(ぎおんまつり)について。
聞いたことがりますか？

日本では、昔からいろんな祭り(festival)があります。
地元(じもと)の祭りや大きな祭りがあります。

今日は日本三大祭りの１つ、祇園祭について話します。
祇園祭とは、夏に京都で行われる祭りのことです。
7月の1ヶ月でいくつかの行事があります。


祇園祭の起源(きげん＝roots)は平安時代初期(へいあんじだいしょき)にさかのぼります。その時代は、疫病(えきびょう＝ひろがる病気)が流行(りゅうこう)していました。

人々は、これを死んだ人たちの祟り(たたり)だと考えました。ですので、祟りをしずめるために、まちをあるく「御霊会〔ごりょうえ〕」をはじめました。

これが祇園祭のはじまりです。

祇園祭のシンボルは山車〔だし〕という大きなものです。
屋根に長い槍(やり)を持ち、2階にはお囃子(おはやし)をするひとたちが乗っています。またひとがかつぐようなものもあります。

先日、はじめて、じっくりと祇園祭を見ました。
1ヶ月の間の最後の行事でしたが、人がたくさん見にきていて、とても熱気がありました。そして、伝統的(でんとうてき)な雰囲気(ふんいき)がありました。
