There are three ways to pronounce the -ed ending in English. The pronunciation is generally determined by the final sound (not letter) of the infinitive.
1ïžâŁ For words ending in a /d/ or /t/ sound, the -ed ending will make the /ÉȘd/ sound, which will result in an additional syllable.
2ïžâŁ For words ending in a /f/, /k/, /p/, /s/, /Ê/, or /tÊ/ sound, the -ed ending will make the unvoiced /t/ sound.
3ïžâŁ For words ending in all other sounds (including vowels), the -ed ending will make the voiced /d/ sound.
