Located at 15 kilometers southwest of Tiananmen square, crossing the Yongding River, the Lugou Bridge is the oldest multiple-arch stone bridge that still exists in Beijing today. The Lugou Bridge was first built in 1192 and rebuilt in 1698. It is supported by 281 columns, each of which is carved in stone in the shape of lions.
