It's really nice to talk about holidays in this holiday month. There are many holidays in December around the world. I have even heard about the strangest holiday in December called the Eating a Red Apple Day, which invites people to eat apples on that day. Because "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". It's very interesting. As for Chinese people, there are also many holidays we like to celebrate besides Christmas Day and the New Year's Eve. Among them, the Winter Solstice is the most important day for us. After experiencing longer nights for nearly a month, we really expect to enjoy more sunshine and a warm weather. The Winter Solstice is when the sun starts to move back to the northern hemisphere. The days will become longer than the nights so we always look forward to this event and we usually eat dumplings on that day. Because the shape of a dumpling resembles our ears, eating more dumplings can keep our ears from suffering from the cold. Though it's just a joke, (you don’t need to use “but” when you have already introduced your sentence with “though”) almost everyone in my country would do it on the Winter Solstice. In addition, dumplings are made of wrappers and filling. The wrappers also give us a good wish so that it encourages us to wrap up everything by the end of a year.
