Hi! This is an excerpt from a news report. I wonder if it's clear for you to know what's the VOTE mentioned in these two paragraphs. This passage comes from my reading task, although the test does not ask me what's the vote included in this passage, the knowing of that does prevent me from understanding Mr. Miller's concern "if the vote passes....son will have easier access to alcohol". I can't understand why would be easier for that? Could you please confirm if these two paragraphs can indicate the content of that VOTE. This could help me to judge my reading ability a lot!🙏🙏

They are voting on a measure, such a proposed bill. While we don't know what the exact measure is, there are clues as to what the vote is about. The measure they are voting on would loosen alcohol restrictions in some way. They do not actually explain why the son would have easier access to alcohol, but that is a clue as to the contents. The "extra tax revenue" which "comes at a cost" also implies that more alcohol will be sold under this measure, causing the state to collect more in alcohol taxes due to the reduced restrictions on alcohol.

They don’t say what the vote is about. I know the USA has some strange alcohol laws that vary from state to state. If I had to guess, the proposal might be that it can be sold in any shop rather than specific shops or they are changing the age limit from say 21 to 18.
