.........echocardiography......a big word......... My friend used an Apple Watch as his fitness tracker. The other day, he told me that the watch could perform echocardiography* and this feature received FDA clearance. Then he opened an app and put his right index on the watch. Next, an echocardiogram was shown on the app. After a few seconds, that image was sent to iCloud. It might not be as powerful as the traditional echocardiography, but it’s definitely a great and convenient device to detect arrhythmia. * Is there a less official word for this? ** Please help me correct sentences that sound odd. Thank you and good afternoon. :)

You could say "abnormalities" "an abnormal heartbeat" "abnormalities of the the heart" "irregularities" " irregularities of the heart" because that is what an arrhythmia is. And finally you need to say an arrhythmia.

An echocardiogram, which is an ultrasound petformed to assess the structure of the heart, is shortened to "echo." What you're referring to is called an electrocardiogram, shortened to "EKG" or "ECG," and it measures several aspects of the heart rhythm. Side note: You might say "right index finger" in formal/professional settings, but 99.9% of native speakers would understand it the way it is, and some might even say it that way. This is not really worth mentioning for context but might help with language mastery.
