Questioning about the crucial role that sleep played to our emotional well-being, Yulia has reminded me of a well-known quote by a legendary film character, that might explain why it is so important to manage difficult situations staying calm and clearheaded, preferably after a good night’s sleep.
In the so, so famous, epic film, Gone With The Wind, Scarlett O’hara, the headstrong, wilful daughter of a owner of a plantation in the times of the American Civil War, has a habit of postpone difficult decisions, especially when she feels like she can’t cope with them due to stress or mental exhaustion. And so, she used to say to herself:
“I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about it tomorrow.”
Although here she doesn’t say explicitly that she need to have a rest, it’s clear that she is thinking precisely about waving aside the difficulties for a while, go to bed and sleep tight. And tomorrow she will mull over all that again with a refreshed mood.
