A phrase from about 700 years ago in England: "When Adam delved and Eve span, who was then a gentle-man?" (i.e. nobility). I think some of it is a political-societal question, laid upon geographic economic foundations (i.e. the richness of the lands our ancestors settled).

What do I think of this statement? It should be a truth universally acknowledged, that the words "All men are created equal", is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and falsity, signifying nothing... (Thanks: to Jane Austen, Thomas Jefferson, and William Shakespeare.)

From 'Animal Farm' I believe. It's a terrible as a maxim to live by, but unfortunately often accurate at a description of society.

I think it's indisputable and to some extent inevitable. I think that is how the world is built and I guess the imbalance is what keeps things going, unfortunately. I also believe there is inequality everywhere in the world, even in places that claim the highest form of equality and people can only do so much to get rid of it. It is similar to the capitalism vs the communist issue, one has to give and it's unfortunate that it is always the destitute and/or already disadvantaged who have to suffer these consequences.
