Tutor da ComunidadeSer vs. Estar — What's the Difference? 🤔
Both mean “to be”, but they’re used in different situations.
Let’s make it simple:
✅ Use SER for:
🧬 Identity – Soy profesora. (I’m a teacher)
🕐 Time & Date – Son las 5. (It’s 5 o’clock)
🌎 Origin – Soy de Venezuela. (I’m from Venezuela)
🎭 Characteristics – Ella es amable. (She’s kind)
💍 Relationships / Ownership – Es mi hermano. (He’s my brother)
🔁 Think: Things that don’t change easily.
✅ Use ESTAR for:
📍 Location – Estoy en casa. (I’m at home)
🩺 Temporary conditions – Está enfermo. (He’s sick)
😄 Emotions / Feelings – Estamos felices. (We’re happy)
🕒 Temporary situations – La tienda está cerrada. (The store is closed)
🔁 Think: How you feel & where you are = always use estar!
✨ Want to practice with real examples and conversation? I’d love to help you become more confident with ser and estar — little by little, it gets easier!
