Hi guys! I got a question: I've learned that "other" is plural and "another" is singular. So shouldn't the sentence "We'll be staying there for another few weeks" be wrong?? I'm confused

When you use the word “few”, you are describing multiple things but as one group; the object of the sentence becomes singular, “a few weeks” and not “an few weeks”. So by using “few” you have turned weeks plural into a singular group of weeks, a “few” weeks. “Week” is a countable noun, but words like “few” and “some” are uncountable.

Hiya! They're not part of a class of words that can be classified as singular or plural. Matt

There are some good explanations here, but I agree with Matthew, they cannot be classified as plural or singular :)

Hi Mak, Another few weeks is correct because another refers to few here. Another is always used with singular nouns. It will help you to think of it as AN+other (a/an = one): Give me another apple (=one more apple) Other can be used with both singular and plural nouns: Close the other window, not this one (there are only two windows). I want other cherries, these are unripe.
