Dear The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies team, I'm writing to express my interest in the ChinaContact Program Coordinator position. [You should add 1-2 sentences describing why you like the position or why you think you are suited for the position. Something like, how you're passionate about the job specifics. Try to include words from the job posting.] I have obtained the CELT-P (Certificate in English Language Teaching – Primary) qualification. Currently, I am teaching English to beginners for three American non-profit organizations: Torus in Portland, Oregon; Partnership Carson City in Nevada; and Pui Tak Center in Chicago, Illinois. Most of my students are Spanish speakers, which has motivated me to study Spanish. [You should mention details of this work, connecting them to skills that the new job requires. For example, does the job require you to deal with people from a variety of backgrounds? You have experience teaching students from various Spanish-speaking backgrounds.) I am also currently teaching Mandarin on a Hong Kong-based language learning platform and at Jeremy E. Watson Educational Center, Inc., Miami FL, where most of my students are Westerners. Additionally, I have tutored a high school principal face-to-face? in Beijing through an online? platform. [Again, mention specific skills. Also, if you tutor someone face-to-face, you are meeting in real life, not through an online platform. I think you might mean one-to-one?] I am passionate about education tourism. During the past Christmas holiday, I took part in a volunteer tourism project and tutored Mandarin after school in Thailand for an American charitable organization, Baan SuFan / Home of Destiny. [Again, specific skills.] I love creating educational content, such as the video that I have attached below. [Describe the content a little bit.] Thank you for your consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, X
In general, a cover letter should include details not listed on your resume. So it would be good to find connections between specific skills in your past working experience and this new job position.
