I am from China and am studying in the UK now. Because of the pandemic, I couldn't go back to China. I really miss my family as well as the food I ate in China. To relieve my homesick, I learned how to cook Chinese food myself by watching cooking videos.
Last week, I made a classic Chinese food named spicy chicken. It is spicy, salty as well as sweet. It does not take too long time to make it.
Firstly, the chicken was chopped to several small dices and cleaned with tap water. Then, the chicken pieces were dried with kichen towel before seasoned with salt, white pepper, soy sauce, cooking alcohol and corn flour for a couple of minutes. Next, heat the oil to around 150 degrees Celcius and put the seasoned chicken into it, deep-frying for about 5 minutes. Repeat this process three times until a yellow crispy crusts were formed at the surface of the chicken pieces. After the chicken was well prepared, it is time to introduce other ingredients. Add a spoon of vegetable oil into a pan and then put in the fermented spicy soy bean paste. Add all the rest ingredients including a large amounts of chillis and peppercorns, a few spring onions, and some peanuts. Lastly, mix all the rest ingredients with the deep-fried chicken before adding a spoon of sugar and a ladel of light soy sauce.
Before I studied abroad, I know little about cooking, however, now I can say it out proudly - I am quite excelled at cooking. I like tasty food, I think that is the reason why I became crazy of cooking and tried my best to grasp this skill. How about you? Do you fancy cooking?
