"I met an oncoming car". Is that a correct sentence? In Swedish, we would say (translated) "I met a car" or "I had/got a meeting with a car", but I suppose that's not right in English?
Thank you.

Yes, "I met an oncoming car" is a correct sentence in English. In this context, "oncoming" is used to describe the direction of the car - it is approaching from the opposite direction.
In English, "meet" can be used to describe an encounter or crossing of paths with someone or something. When used in the context of vehicles, it often refers to encountering another vehicle on the road.
So, "I met a car" or "I had/got a meeting with a car" would also be understandable in English, but "I met an oncoming car" would be a more specific and precise way of describing the encounter, particularly if the context implies that the encounter occurred on a road or in a similar situation where vehicles are expected to be moving in opposite directions.

I'm not sure what you mean to say, but I'm guessing that you want to say you "crashed into it" or you "hit it" to describe a traffic accident. When cars that are going in opposite directions crash, it's known as a "head-on collision."
Perhaps you mean that the cars just passed each other. If so, you could say that you "passed a car that was going in the other direction."

About the strange google search result results, it appears that Google's algorithm is failing in this case, probably because "I met another car" is a very rare phrase in search. It is the kind of phrase that is fairly common when talking about driving but probably no one ever googles it since the meaning is very obvious. So Google probably sees many more searches done on "met another cat" and makes the wrong guess that this is what you wanted to search.
The solution is to do the same search with quotes. Then it gives correct results.

Hi
We use the phrase "met another car" . Google it and you'll find lots of examples.
For instance "I met another car on the ramp and had to reverse back down it as we both couldn't fit!"

Oh, I could share the print screen. This is so weird.
